This is called “yarn barf”.
I price my yarn and call it “reclaimed” because a lot of it started out like this! Most of the yardage was painstakingly detangled over HOURS so that it could be caked and made usable.
A lot of this I got given for free because of the labor intensive task of making it usable again.
Yes, you can probably get more yarn for the yard at Walmart, but Walmart doesn’t have to do this amount of work, and can afford to produce in bulk. (And pay their employees peanuts!)
I’m one person, and a lot of these yarns aren’t being made anymore and can never be bought from a store again.
Please consider all of this before complaining reclaimed yarn should be “cheaper” than store bought!
