Registration is open for our Indigo Dyeing workshop! Taught by the talented local artists Birdsong Sundstrom and Rhodi Hainline. Experience the magic of indigo, a plant dye used throughout the tropical and semi-tropical regions of the world for centuries. We will use some basic tie dye wraps to prepare a tshirt for dyeing.

If youvevever wondered how to start spinning your own yarn… here’s the first step. I tie a simple know from the leader string onto the wool I’ll be spinning, and off I go.

Here I’m spinning a wool-mohair blend with recycled denim additions.

My hand spun yarn is available on my Etsy shop and at the mill store.

September’s Wool of the Month is Harlequin. Harlequin sheep are a new breed developed in the USA, and we’re very excited to be able to offer it as batts for spinning. This breed was developed from Babydoll Southdown sheep, which are known for their very soft, short-stapled wool that is highly resistant to felting. Harlequin has similar traits but the sheep have also been bred for color. They are spotted, with white, brown, and tan all in one fleece.
