Would it be really tacky if I stuffed a crochet pumpkin (for sale) with (clean) old socks along with the fiberfill, to give it some heft?

I'm finally crafting again, although it's been with donated and thrift store yarn rather than a disassembly. It's difficult to work in front of a fan as it is. Imagine the disaster of a sweater disassembly with strands blowing all over and the cat thinking I've invented a fun new game! LOL

Here are just a few of the things I've made (some sold at a farmer's market) in the last few weeks. If you see something you'd like to make yours, please drop a message.

P.S. - It's a yellow rose, even if this is Illinois! No corn here! 😆

I've been away for quite a while, tending to a family situation and not crafting. It looks like this page has been filled with junk not put there by me! Can one of you check what's showing when you look at the page? And I apologized if it's been filling your feed! I'll try to figure out what's going on with Facebook.

My interests are overlapping! Last night and today, I've put my other yarn projects on hold because I'm preparing a plant experiment. I'm going to be growing microgreens for the very first time (experienced gardener but this is uncharted territory). I want to do it "on the cheap," so I'm preparing an experiment of homemade recycled/repurposed grow mats, to compare with the more usual stuff. I'm crocheting cotton grow mats (from, you guessed it, a thrift store sweater!) as the cardboard egg carton shreds soak. (Remember making paper by drying paper moosh on a screen?) I'm also going to dampen and compress some shredded newspaper. And try plastic canvas with a paper towel wick beneath it. These will be compared with seeds started in coconut coir and seed starting mix, so I'll have 6 batches of seeds going very soon! Everything that's biodegradable will be fed to my composting worms once it's no longer suitable for growth medium. This is fun! And if the cotton grow mats are a flop, I'm pretty sure I can wash them and use as dishcloths til they're ready to be worm chow. 😂🌱🪱💗

Now that gardening and harvesting isn't completely ruling my schedule, I did the finish work on this pillow and will pop it in the mail to my 5 yr old, dino-loving grandson in Arizona! It's not my best work but I think he'll like it!

This is not yarn/fiber related, but it warms my re/upcycling little heart and I just had to share it! These are at the Burlington, Iowa, Public Library. The youth department collected plastic lids of All sizes and colors, the plywood shapes were cut out and painted, the youth put the kids in where they thought they'd look good, and then an adult finalized the placements and attached. I can't believe how great they look! (I may need a bee and a dragonfly and a butterfly for my yard!! 😊) There are several more. I'll take more pictures as I go out to my car.

It's been a typical hot and humid Illinois summer, so not a lot of crafting with yarn happening here. BUT I did make a "Little Monstera" teether for our one year old grandson, using yarn ReThreaded from a thrift store cotton sweater.

It's been very busy around here lately, but nothing yarny til Friday, when physical exhaustion and a rainy day converged. I'm pondering Farmers Market sales possibilities. Small, relatively inexpensive items. (I just don't think anybody would buy a knit shawl or wool socks in 95° weather!) I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, I'll be doing yard work and vegetable gardening when it's not raining!

This is what I made on Friday. Can you guess what it is?

I was up early again today. Sitting in my comfy chair with my knitting, it was so quiet (the birds weren't even awake yet!) I could hear the underlying little noises we sometimes miss. The upstairs fan my husband runs for white noise, the refrigerator humming, the snick of my knitting needles as I worked on the *blessed* little blue dress yet again, Cora (kitty) snoring on the couch.....and then the Purrmaster Supreme (another kitty, real name Denni, short for Dennis the Menace) decided I needed company, and all the little sounds were drowned out! Denni and I worked out the seating arrangement, the needles resumed, and we listened to the birds as they awoke. The blue dress is slowly becoming a blessing rather than a nuisance, and all is well in my little corner of the world!

Baby dresses and other items, made from either repurposed or new yarn, can be ordered by private message. Prices depend on materials used, size, and intricacy of the piece.
