From the Workbench to the Cover of American Shooting Journal.
Some of Sam's customers have spent their careers at the highest levels of law enforcement and government service. Over the years, his holsters have been trusted by personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, DHS, Capitol Police, Secret Service, and many others who depend on quality gear every day.

Recently, a few of those customers saw the February 2024 American Shooting Journal cover featuring Sam and were genuinely surprised. They had no idea the craftsman behind the holsters they wear was featured on the cover of a national magazine.

The reaction was priceless. These guys already take pride in their Andrews Custom Leather rigs and often compare notes about the holsters Sam has built for them. After seeing the magazine cover, the friendly bragging rights only got stronger.

Recently, R.R. shared these photos of two Saddle Style holsters I made for him years ago. He also left this comment:

"I have known Sam since the early 80s. He has made at least 13 holsters ranging from pocket, inside, outside, shoulder and spiral binders. I am currently waiting on another one that is about done right Sam. I believe this speaks to his quality."

I appreciate the kind words and the many years of friendship and business.

What really stands out to me is seeing holsters I made decades ago that are still in service today. The leather has developed character from years of use, but they're still doing the job they were built to do.

These holsters were also personalized with R.R.'s initials, something I've offered for customers who want to make their holster uniquely their own.

When you build one holster at a time, the goal isn't just to make something that looks good when it leaves the shop. The goal is to make something that will still be serving its owner years down the road.

Now THIS is what daily carry looks like after real use.

This custom MacDaniel holster Made in cognac alligator has been worn for about 6 months, roughly 12 hours a day, and it’s still holding its shape and looking great.

That’s the difference quality leather and proper hand fitting make.

This is what custom fit really looks like.

In this photo, Sam is hand-molding a saddle-style holster . This type of holster has to be hand cut, then carefully shaped and molded to that exact firearm. There’s no shortcut.

If Sam were making just this one holster, it would take several days from start to finish:
• Cutting the leather
• Gluing and forming
• Hand molding
• Drying time
• Edge work
• Coloring and finish

And he does it one holster at a time.

Now multiply that by hundreds of custom orders, each made for a specific firearm and customer. That’s why custom takes longer, and that’s also why it fits, carries, and lasts the way it should.
