Back in 2015, Noa and I went on a trek in Nepal. We’d been planning on going for a 3-day loop, but in the first hour we realized we’d gone the wrong way. We were on the 10-day trek.
🥾 🌿
We ate a snack in a shallow creek bed in the rain and decided to carry on, not go back.
🌧️
For 5 days we walked through cold mist and fog and only ever had glimpses part way up the towered hills beside the trail.
🌫️⛰️
Up and down valleys, in and out of forests and villages, past monkeys, and snakes, and onward up the mountain. And with only a hint of where we truly were.
🐒🐍
When we reached the top it was still raining. As we packed our things to go back down, it was still misty.
🌫️
As we had warm eggs and coffee in the guesthouse, the clouds got lighter and we could feel the warmth of the sun.
🍳☕️⛅️
Slowly the clouds parted and we had an amazing view of the top of the Himalayas. Wild flowers filled the field below and the snow-capped peaks stood tall and regal.
🌤️⛰️🪻🌻🌷
To this day, I tear up a little bit thinking about that view and all of the hard work we went through to get there, with only little hints of what was to come.
✨
Thinking back, we could always see the next right step right in front of us.
👀
And that’s all we needed. We didn’t need to know all that would come. We knew that next right step would carry us to wherever we were meant to be.
