Mom brought over a box packed with my grandparents' clothes and requested not just one but five quilts for her and my aunts. She also asked that we use bluebonnet fabric on the borders since those were Grandma’s favorite. The scent of their clothes instantly reminded me of Grandma's house, where she always had a solitaire game going on at the kitchen table. I felt honored to turn those clothes into a quilt they can cherish forever. My mother-in-law, Mindy, decided to use a pinwheel pattern to match the fabric, and she nailed it! Working on these (even with the seam ripping at times) was a blast alongside her.
