I spent the better part of a year making and remaking, half making and trouble shooting this design.

I tried different leathers for the lining, structural materials, the upper, the sole. Different construction techniques. I wore them and made adjustments and wore them some more.

I didn’t do any of this with the idea of making a product or to sell something. I did for the integrity of the work. I did it because I wanted to make something I was really proud of, something that impressed me every time I put them on.

My personal pair is now 7yrs old and I wear them almost daily. I have replaced the rubber bottoms on the soles 3 times but sole leather is still original.

While our most popular product is now the Asher boots, these are still my go-tos.

In life, for me, I find that the work itself is the rewarding thing, not so much the outcome or the finish. It’s the process that makes something of immeasurable value or quality.

Keeping some finished boots and shoes close by helps me remember that the work does indeed have an end.

Our Story

Where art, craftsmanship and quality converge, we make long-life boots and shoes unlike anyone else.

It started when long-time woodworker, and jack of all trades owner, Chad Kimball, pursued his dream of one day making a pair of shoes for himself. Not moccasins, but real, hand-crafted shoes that would be comparable to any fine shoes on the market.

He quickly learned that it is no easy task to make a shoe by hand. All of his experience woodworking, rebuilding engines, building homes, etc... did not compare to the level of craftsmanship needed to make a shoe, from scratch, using raw materials, with a knife hammer, glue, and nails.

After trying to learn on his own for several months, failing, and not able to find any reliable books on the subject, he finally found a master shoe maker in the small town of Jerome, AZ who took on students. He immediately pulled money from saving and booked his entire amount of stored vacation time. He had to camp out at a nearby state park because affording a hotel for that long was far out of his budget. The park graciously allowed him to stay longer than is typically allowed due to it being their off season, the dead of summer.
