Our Story
Haze Gray Apparel is a project started by a US Navy veteran, former enlisted, as a way of building hands-on skills in online marketing, content writing and search engine optimization. That's me, a former Russian linguist and naval aircrew member for a brief period, and this is my creative outlet and my online learning lab.
And all of it, always, starts with our unique value proposition - what do we offer that others do not?
The idea came one day when visiting online with one of my former shipmate. I saw an opportunity to create a T-shirt brand offering quality gear that real sailors and marines, current or former, would be proud to wear. The idea was to fill a niche for simple and understated designs. Pride, honor and tradition is a look that doesn't have to be loud and obnoxious. We know who we are. And that is the spirit of our brand - tactical yet tactful. And maybe we can delivery something with a sense of humor, as well.
If one were to survey the landscape of available T-shirt designs, it would probably seem like every third member of the Navy is in the Seal teams or a the Sea Bees. There isn't that much out there for, say, Marine Corps combat aircrew or US Navy aviation warfare specialists. And in fact, we didn't have these either when we started our store - we created these in response to feedback from Navy and Marine veterans following us. We have learned so far that if we manage to plug into these communities within the Navy, within the Marines, then there is a crap-ton of straight-up honest, pure unadulterated PRIDE out there, and that is what is being so well received.
