We Are Leather!

Originally we started our own business in 2015 to provide a Plan B income. Since We Were Teens, LLC came from the fact that Karyn and I have been together since high school. We had a couple ideas in mind. Photography services, licensed fi****ms dealer and outdoor accessories store on-line. As with most things in life it is a learning process and the curve may taking you off a cliff or down a path least expected. Knives were our biggest selling items and I got the idea to make leather strops to sell on-line (thanks Clint). Its a niche market, but I could control costs and not have to deal with wholesalers and distributors. Karyn said, “You will never sell one.” Up to this point between internet store front costs, product cost, low margins, carrying inventory (in the garage) and shipping costs we were losing money fast. Soon a couple strops sold and I returned the money back into material and supplies. We have shipped over a thousand in 8 months. Soon I found we could expand our line of leather accessories. I learned to cowboy stitch by hand and soon upgraded to an industrial sewing machine. Experimenting with new leathers and designs (and hours of YouTube video later) we continue to grow. We have shipped to all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Canada.

We shipped our 2000th order in early February 2018. We look forward to 1000 before the end of the year. All 4 wheels are still on the road.
