This October 23–28, we’ll be showing at — our very first furniture piece, The Marté Throne: Homecoming.

After 12 transformative weeks in the Incubator Program, learning from brilliant minds across Africa and beyond, I’m proud to share this new chapter of Marté Egele — where art, culture, and craftsmanship meet.

The Throne is a sculptural stool that stands strong, merging African heritage and Western modernity; the same dialogue that defines our leather goods. We’ve also added two detachable triangular side table trays carved with the M logo (represented as tribal marks — an ode to geometry, culture, and identity).

It’s an honor to be among incredible designers, architects, and visionaries shaping how we live and create. Thank you to and the entire DWL team, and every facilitator/ creator who walked us through what design really is, hope we can go about creating experiential, meaningful design and the Nigerian/ African focus.

Join us as we celebrate the creativity rising from Nigeria, from Africa.

We’re not done with and neither should you! We were fortunate to show at the LLF 2025 Runway Show where we got to fully show and tell the Marté Egele story.

We brought the Ese, Leely, Bui and Mens collections to life — and soft-launched a few exciting pieces from our Marté Merch tees and our very first Marté Home furniture (yes, furniture! and we’re over the moon about it). 🖤

This runway wasn’t just a show — it was a week in the life of Marté: equal parts work and play (ok maybe more play, but who’s checking us?). A world of self-confidence, individuality, love, friendship, care, and bold choices — all wrapped in handcrafted leather goodness.

Some pieces are available online now, some sold out (thank you!), and others will be restocked soon or reimagined — because our leathers are limited and made to be special.

Huge thank you to LLF for always giving us the platform to be *loud and proud* about who we are, what we do, and who we’re becoming. 💥

The Brand

This creative journey began when Founder and Creative Director, Uche Egele, under the watchful eyes of her artistic mother, actively engaged in sewing clothes for her dolls at the age of 3. Fast forward several years down the road, this same drive was the propelling factor that led to the conception of fun, bold and unique pieces for the Marté Egele line of leather accessories.

Moving to the U.S, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Marketing along with a Professional Designation in Sales, she learned how to better express herself and discovered how to expertly channel her creativity into action. After graduation, she immediately got accepted into the prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Los Angeles to study Womenswear. While there, she gained the necessary skills needed to become a successful designer in the fashion industry. It was in this environment that she learned to better appreciate the unique skill sets that she had gained over time and further complement those skills with the new knowledge attained while learning the trade in an academic (yet practical) setting.

After long hours at FIDM LA, and with the support of encouraging friends and family who helped her along the way, she found meaningful employment in top American niche brands such as Elisabeth Weinstock, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent and True Religion Brand Jeans. When the time was right, she returned home to Lagos, Nigeria and worked for a top womenswear brand, GREY where she learned the ins and outs of the Nigerian fashion industry.

The desire to create and cultivate unique, high quality products are visible in the thoughtful fusion of her native Nigerian culture and the western style where she was professionally trained. She ensures that every leather piece, carefully handcrafted by local artisans, is fun, exciting yet functional. The style of playing with geometric shapes along with the infusion of cross-stitch weavings opens up her creativity to so many possibilities, which we will discover together as she takes you on a journey.
