We are saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend and artist, Les McDonald Jr.
Les was a kind and brilliant soul who we had the pleasure of sharing many memories with. Les, a well known figure in the Texas Outdoor Community donated his art to many causes and groups. Les always warmly welcomed his customers into his home studio.

A Houstonian since 1967, Les’s journey into art started after a hunting trip when he was 12 years old. Sketching the duck he had just seen flying overhead, Les quickly took an interest in wildlife art and began to enter competitions. Les graduated from Sam Houston State with a degree in commercial art and worked in the advertising industry for 19 years. Les then became a full time water color artist and sold his work to collectors around the country. Les was a well known teacher to many students looking to master the technically difficult medium. Les created the popular work “Taking Flight” and “Mansfield Mauling” that are featured on our apparel. A true Texas Wildlife Artist, our thoughts are with his family and dear wife Diane.

Throwback Thursday! 9 years ago at the Houston Fishing Show! 🐟😁 The industry sure has changed a lot since then but the people are still the best part about this show. Come out next week to the George R Brown Convention Center for the 50th Anniversary of this amazing exhibit. All the greatest Texas fishing businesses under one roof!
