Dear Jett, 💌

Happy Birthday in the Clouds ☁️

Today marks six years since we had to say, “see you later.” The 6th birthday we’ve spent without hugs and giggles from you.

We’ve healed—slowly, but surely. We’ve talked about you often. We’ve told Ev all about the brother we miss. And this year, I’ve found new ways to do right by you.

Grief and loss are so difficult to grapple with. Like old scars reminding us where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. Occasionally easily ripped back open, and other times healed to the best form of normal we can find.

I’ve done the medications that helped me crawl out of that black pit. I’ve done the therapy, the EMDR, the trauma/PTSD work. I tried new hobbies—cake baking, and excessively reading again. I’ve moved back to the people who are my lifeline. And then this year I found this. And this felt like a breath of fresh air.

And then… I got to watch it bloom.

I saw the sparkle in little kids eyes when they held the one they picked. I saw your sister’s joy when I created something just for her. And suddenly, something that was meant to be nothing, grew 🌱

It feels like a warm hug. A memory I can actually hold onto. It feels like home.
Like time—fleeting and precious—captured in yarn and stitches. A moment I get to keep, again and again.

I still don’t understand the “why.” I still catch myself imagining where you’d be in the picture—playing beside Everleigh, or splashing at the waterpark with Ledger. But I do know you’re well looked after by some of our favorite people. And I know you’re in the butterflies 🦋 and the feathers 🪶

Ev woke up today saying “oh no I forgot to get Jettson’s present” and I just know you caught all our rainbow balloons today we let fly to Heaven 🎈

You’re still ours, Jett.
You always will be.
And I’m so honored you chose me to be the one to carry you as far as you needed me to. 💕
