The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a major global health emergency appeal for 2026, requesting nearly $1 billion to support lifesaving medical care in crisis zones affected by war, displacement, disease outbreaks and collapsing health systems. According to WHO, millions of vulnerable people currently lack access to basic healthcare such as vaccinations, emergency treatment, maternal care and disease control due to severe funding shortages and growing humanitarian needs. The organization says the funding will help strengthen frontline health services, respond to outbreaks and prevent avoidable deaths in some of the world’s most fragile regions, as global health systems continue to face intense pressure from ongoing conflicts and humanitarian emergencies. 🌍🩺
