Results & happy students from last Saturday’s Marigold dyeing workshops in my studio at Art 634! 🌼 We learned about the importance of scouring & mordanting your fibers before dyeing them, showed off what two different mordanting techniques on cellulose fibers will produce, and played with some iron to help modify the yellow & golden colors to olive green & a beautiful brown (mordant dependent)! 💛🧡💚🤎

Each student was so engaged and curious, I just love the energy of these classes and am so grateful to be in a place where I can share this amazing craft.

Less than two weeks away from my favorite Jackson event… ART POP! Join is for an amazing lineup of local artists & bands on Saturday, August 29th from 11am-9pm in The Hollow, aka Ogma Brewing Company’s beer garden in downtown Jackson!🖤 THE HOLLOW AT OGMA Ogma Brewing Co.

I’m always honored to be a part of this event! This year I’ll be vending and supplying a very limited amount of tie dyed merch in collaboration with the logo artist this year - Audra Olivia. 🦕 Ya’ll are gonna love this one, but you may have to wait until the event to see it! Photos in this post are from previous years of ART POP*** (except for flyer)

Shout out to Cody James Lockwood who curates and runs this whole thing! He treats us all like royalty, making sure bands get paid, artists get to vend for free, and the event is free to the public… all through sponsorship, raffle tickets & VIP tickets! Next chance to join me in my studio for a workshop is next Saturday, August 22nd to learn about creating color & dyeing fabric with Marigolds!

Marigolds are such an abundant plant to work with to create color. In this workshop, we will use the flower heads of these plants to create a stunnning golden color. We will learn about the mordanting process and options for variations in color with modifiers. Each participant will get 2 bandanas to work with a variety of shibori resist methods.

Two sessions, 11am (2 spots left) & 3pm (3 spots left), each session is 2-3 hours long. They are already filling up and I’ve had a lot of interest without even really advertising it yet - so if you want to join I recommend registering today!

August & September happenings with some private dye classes sprinkled in, stocking up on product for vending & my solo show, & finishing up my Riot Fest commission. 🌀 Btw, I’m still waiting on that lost package to get resolved, once that happens you’ll see some more indigo classes through the end of the year! Naturally dyed shirts for Divine Pine Gathering this past weekend 🌀🌿🌈 💦 Swipe to see different colors and designs!

It’s such an honor to be a part of such a grounding, nourishing and intentional gathering. My creative contribution to this year was dyeing up some 2026 merch. Indigo, marigolds, onion skins, iron, and a special tannin I’ve been working with of black walnut, sycamore bark, & oak gall hull. Everything but the indigo & iron I foraged or had from kitchen scrap. Really love working in this way, really grateful to be able to share it with you all.

Oh yeah, and maybe you saw a rack of my tie dye at the giving tree. I didn’t get a photograph of that 🤦🏻‍♀️ But y’all were stoked & it was all gone by the end of the weekend!

If you purchased a shirt at the merch booth, or snagged a garment from the giving tree - I’d love to see a photo of you wearing your new threads! Send me a DM 🧡

Next BYO garment class is this Wednesday, June 15th! It is now registration only so I can better manage overlap and time! Head on over to my website to register - the base price is only $15 for a T-shirt sized garment! I’d love to have you in the studio for some playtime with color and pattern! Family friendly! 🌀🌈💦

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

▪️ $15 + Pricing is dependant on size of garment. Base price of $15 is for t-shirt size.

▪️ To register, you will pay $15 for each slot, and if the item is larger than a t-shirt size or you bring multiple items, you are agreeing to pay more before you start.

▪️ Only 4 people per time slot! 3pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm, & 6:00pm! Sign ups CLOSE at noon on day of.

▪️ You will forfeit your $15 reservation if you cancel after noon the day before class (12pm on July 14th) .

▪️ Please arrive on time!

▪️ Please give yourself about an hour (more if you have more than one item) to tie and dye your fabric.

▪️ Project will be rinsed at home after 24 hours.

▪️ Garments must be of plant based fiber: cotton, linen, bamboo, h**p, rayon, vicose, modal, lyocell, are all welcome.

▪️ If there is more than 20% of any synthetic fiber, we cannot dye your garment.

▪️ Please wash your garment before class!

▪️ If you bring 2 or 3 kid garments or a pack of socks, that will be considered one $15 ‘item’.

▪️ All other supplies/instructions are provided!

▪️ Family friendly! Parents must be hands on with their children.
