I get asked about my process a lot. My process may be slower than others, but I put in the time and proper steps. This was a lesson | learned the hard way. But when I did. It sure paid off.
When I first began refinishing furniture, I had rough textures when I was done. Those clients never came back for more of my work. Unfortunately I was terrified to sand my paint and topcoat layers. There was no amount of content for me to consume to assure me in this very important step. One day I gave in and tried it.
What foolishness to not listen to those that had the experience. What happened once I embraced the sanding step? My work got much better. Clients became regulars. My value increased.
You can not make anyone do a thing until they are ready. I only wish I had not been so stubborn and Mr. Know It All at the time! Because I should have been sanding the paint on my furniture rehabs from the beginning. I strongly recommend anyone working with paint on furniture and walls to give it a try. Then come back and tell me how things went.
Happy Friday and happy painting!
