Leather Fact about High Heels:

-In the 10th century, Persian cavalry wore leather boots with small heels.

-The heels helped their feet “lock” into stirrups, giving them better stability while shooting bows on horseback.

-When European aristocrats saw this, they adopted heeled leather shoes as a status symbol — showing off that they didn’t need to walk much (since walking in heels was impractical).

-By the 17th century, kings like Louis XIV of France made red-heeled leather shoes a royal fashion statement.

-Later, heels shifted into women’s fashion, but originally they were all about horses and leather saddlery.

So high heels weren’t born as a fashion piece — they were functional leather riding gear!
