We are stoked to be part of this event…
We updated our logo to match the festival’s new full name: Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival.
The full name helps explain what the festival is about, but we also hope people will simply come to know it as Great Plains Festival.
The new name fits better with what the festival has become. We’re focused on original artists, handmade makers, food vendors, bakers, and great local and regional musicians — and we want to keep opening the door to more kinds of art.
That includes theater, performance, dance, film, spoken word, demonstrations, and other creative ideas, because we’re trying to get all arts involved. This is a festival of art.
We’ve already had dozens of vendor applications, and many vendors have signed up with amazing booths. We’ve also booked an amazing lineup of professional and semi-professional musicians from the region to come play at the event. It should be a sonic explosion in one of the most beautiful natural amphitheater settings in Lawrence, overlooking Clinton Lake and the Wakarusa River Valley.
We also dropped the ticket price considerably this year to $10, with kids 15 and under free. We’re looking at doing a “buy two, get one free” ticket deal, and we’ll also be giving away thousands of tickets leading up to the event.
We’re trying to build something curated, local, original, and creative for Lawrence and the Great Plains region!
