Travel completely stole me away for a minute. 😂

I fully intended to post while we were gone and then Spain said, “Actually, you’re gonna walk a gazillion steps, eat things you can’t pronounce, stare at the ocean, and completely lose track of what day it is!!”

Sooo, anyway… Hi - I’m back!! Did ya miss me?

My camera roll is ridiculous. My brain is full. I have about 47 things I want to do, 232 things I need to do, several Q+W ideas that I want to make a reality, and apparently I missed hanging out with you weirdos over here. 💕

So I need to know... What did I miss while I was gone??

The kind of beauty that makes you pause and be still. 💕

I could have stood here for a super long time.

There’s so much noise and distraction in life. But then, there are moments like this. Moments when life stands still.

The waves keep crashing in.
The sun keeps setting.

And you are struck with awe and wonder at the beauty that God places in the world we are so quick to dismiss, so quick to rush past.

This felt worth noticing. 💕

Turn the sound up for this one… spend a moment and get lost in the sound of God’s creation.

And, by “expanded”, I mean Kass and I wore our Q+W shirts at the beach, of course.

Kevin’s been busy. 👀

Apparently even while I’m on vacation in Spain, my brain refuses to stop designing lol

So somewhere between exploring, eating new things, and taking in all the beautiful things around me… Kevin showed up.

This one is part of my new fall seasonal series… with fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving designs coming together in the usual Q+W mix of faith, humor, and slightly questionable little characters.

I’m only giving you a tiny behind-the-scenes peek for now but the full Kevin design is LIVE in my Etsy shop (sweatshirt and mug coming soon!) if you want to see what he’s been up to.

Any guesses what Kevin got himself into this time? 😂

My daughter and I are in Spain! Here, we don’t have an opportunity to see much wildlife, but there’s still so much joy, awe, and wonder if you just look around.

We were walking by La Mezquita (a giant Mosque-Cathedral) in Córdoba and couldn’t help but be taken aback by the beauty in this photo.

One man. One guitar. Sitting beside one of the most iconic buildings in all of Spain. Playing his guitar while the rest of the world went on around him.

This is the stuff I don’t want to miss.

Not just the well planned out “we came all the way to do this” moments, but the unexpected ones.

The music coming from around the corner, reverberating on the buildings. The soft glow of lights gloriously illuminating an old majestic doorway. A man sharing something beautiful with strangers he’ll never see again. The little moments that make you pause and praise God for allowing you to be right here, right now.

God placed joy, wonder, and beauty everywhere in the world around us. Sometimes our only job is to notice more.

Last night, this was worth noticing.

Hi everyone! I’m Jessica, the face behind Quirk + Work.

I realized some of you probably know my awkward turtles, tiny frogs, and questionable birds better than you know the person making them. Haha So…. hi! 🙃

Q+W started because I love creating and has quickly become a pretty accurate extension of who I am lol

I love God. I love people. I love making people laugh. I get way too excited about tiny creatures, beautiful skies, ridiculous moments, random laughter, and all the weird and wonderful things we tend to walk right past. And I love sharing that joy with others.

I believe that God is soooo good, I believe that He is working all around us, and I believe that there is so much joy and wonder… if we just slow down long enough to notice it!!

That has become the heart behind Made to Notice.

And even the name Quirk + Work has taken on more meaning for me as I discover more and more joy in the process…

I’m still quirky. God’s still working on me. And He’s working all around me. I just have to take the time to notice!

There’s also a practical reason growing this little business matters… one that I don’t talk about often.

More than twenty years ago, my husband suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident and hasn’t been able to work since. We went through some incredibly difficult years, but I can honestly say how INCREDIBLY blessed we’ve been. Fr, God has been faithful to our family over and over, and over again.

Today, we’re doing well and have SO much to be thankful for, but a large part of our long-term financial security is always a little uncertain, so building something sustainable of my own gives us another layer of security for our future.

And it’s so fun to me that the thing I’m building is something that I truly LOVE!! 💕

Kass is repping Q+W in Spain today! Frequently distracted by His creation doesn’t even come close to describing the majesty of the Nerja Caves. Our God is sooo creative and majestic and incredible and awe-inspiring!!
