I have a confession. Every August I convince myself I'm going to remember everything. Every August... August humbles me. Sometimes all we need is one piece of paper, one pencil, and permission to stop trying to remember everything. 🥝 If your brain has been carrying too much lately, the Simplify My Day Notepad is waiting for you in the shop.

Breaking news from my overwhelmed brain:
My to-do list has become... self-aware. I checked one thing off this morning. Somehow three more appeared. I'm starting to think they're multiplying when I leave the room. 😂

But here's what I'm reminding myself today...

A to-do list is just a place to keep track of tasks. It is not a report card. It doesn't measure your worth. It doesn't determine whether today was "successful." And it definitely doesn't get to decide whether you've earned rest.

So if your list is longer than your available energy today...

Welcome to the club. Around here, we pick a few things that matter...and let the rest wait their turn.

Respectfully...we’re ordering pizza tonight.

Tell me I'm not alone...what's one thing that's been sitting on your to-do list for way longer than you'd like to admit?

In case the 4th cup of coffee at noon didn't tell you, the mug will. Are we ok, mamas? Are we OK? 🥝 Side note: Grab this...

Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself on here. But it's exactly what I need to hear 🥝 Swipe to the very end for an extra dose of cuteness 😉

You do not have to spend Saturday trying to catch up on the last six months of your life.

I know the temptation.

The giant reset.

The marathon cleaning session.

The color-coded meal plan.

The promise that this is the weekend you'll finally get it all together.

But what if this weekend looked different?

What if you picked one thing that would make next week feel just a little lighter?

Maybe that's...

✔️ Writing next week's appointments in one place.
✔️Clearing off the kitchen counter.
✔️Ordering groceries.
✔️ Unsubscribing from those emails you never read.
✔️Going to bed thirty minutes earlier.

Small doesn't mean insignificant.

In fact, I've found that the smallest changes are often the ones that actually stick.

🥝 So tell me: what's your ONE thing this weekend?

My brain is less "organized filing cabinet" and more "internet browser that's been open since 2018."
One tab is reminding me to RSVP.
One is trying to remember if the dog ate.
One is replaying an awkward conversation from three years ago for absolutely no reason.
And one...
One is just playing music.
No idea where it's came from.
No idea how to turn it off.
If your brain feels like it's buffering this week, can I lovingly interrupt that thought that says you're "not doing enough?"
You're not broken.
You're busy.
There's a difference.
And maybe you don't need to become more productive today.
Maybe you just need somewhere to set a few of those tabs down.
🥝 Tell me one "tab" that's currently open in your brain. (Bonus points if it's delightfully random.)

I have a theory.

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that we weren't allowed to enjoy the day until we'd earned it.

Finish the laundry...

then relax.

Answer every email...

then breathe.

Get your whole life together...

then be happy.

Respectfully...

Who came up with that?

Because it sounds exhausting.

This month, I'm trying something different.

Instead of asking, "How do I fix everything?"

I'm asking,

"How do I make today 5% lighter?"

Sometimes the answer is writing everything down.

Sometimes it's ordering pizza.

Sometimes it's laughing at myself because I just spent ten minutes looking for my sunglasses...

while wearing them.

Tiny permission slip:

You don't have to become a whole new person to have a good day.

You just have to let yourself be the one you already are.

Please stop talking to yourself like you're your least favorite coworker.
You know the one...
Nothing you do is ever enough.
Every mistake becomes a personality flaw.
They somehow turn forgetting to switch the laundry into a full-blown character assassination.
Imagine saying those things to your best friend.
You wouldn't.
So why do we hand ourselves a performance review every single day?
Tiny permission slip for today:
Talk to yourself like someone you're rooting for.
Not someone you're trying to fire.
❤️ If this was for you, save it for the next day your inner critic decides to schedule another performance review.

Before July ends, take a minute to notice what shifted.

What did you finish?
What did you release?
What did you simplify?
What stopped taking up so much space in your head?

Maybe you finished a project.
Maybe you closed one tiny open loop.
Maybe you finally dealt with the pile.
Maybe you released an idea that belonged to an old season.
Maybe you simplified dinner, your calendar, your expectations, or the way you talk to yourself.

It does not have to look dramatic to count.

Simple living is built through small choices that make your real life feel lighter.

Gentle growth often looks like returning, releasing, finishing imperfectly, and letting “done enough” be enough.

So before you rush into a new month, pause.

Name the progress.
Celebrate the tiny completion.
Let July be evidence that small shifts still matter.
