Derby week.
There is something about wearing a shoe that was made by the same family for over sixty years that makes every occasion feel different.
Casadei. Founded in Italy in 1958 by Quinto and Flora Casadei. Their granddaughter Arianna is now running the business. Three generations with the same family and commitment.
I chose these myself in Milan at the Casadei showroom for moments like this for the women in Kentucky. Every shoe at Fiabesca has a story like this one.

Let me introduce you to Rodo created in 1956 and over 70 years later they are still family owned.
I chose these 5 unique and beautiful styles. These are custom ordered just for Fiabesca. Limited inventory.
The chartreuse slingback with laser cut floral detail and a sculptural trumpet heel. The n**e kitten heel with gold hardware. The navy denim slingback with a sheer mesh panel. The black leather slide with a raffia wrapped sculptural heel. The cognac crossover mule with spiral striped heel and gold Rodo hardware.
Every single one is handmade in Italy.

This is Fiabesca.

Happy Easter!
We are closed today, but I am stopping by the store in my sweatpants because we are packing for vacation.
Four kids. Disney. Our newborns first trip.
And I am bringing my Premiata sneakers because they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet and they are still Italian and still beautiful and I refuse to wear anything else even at Disney World.
Premiata. Made in Italy since 1885.

Last September I flew to Milan pregnant with my fourth son.
I had appointments to keep. Shoes to choose. A store in Lexington Kentucky waiting for what I would bring back.
This is the Roberto Festa showroom in the heart of Milan’s fashion district. Roberto grew up in his father’s shoe factory. His family has been in shoes since the 1950s. He founded his own brand in 2008. Every shoe is true Italian craftsmanship made by hand.
I sat at that table and chose every style myself. Reviewed every fabric swatch. Had pizza at our favorite spot in Milano.
On the way back the city was quiet.
Giorgio Armani had passed away in Milan that day.
I stood on a Milan street — pregnant, wearing Italian shoes I had chosen for myself — looking at his billboard.
The shoes I chose that day are almost here.
This is what it means when I say every shoe at Fiabesca was chosen by hand. In Italy.

These boxes arrived at my house this morning.
Every shipment comes to me first. I open every box before anything goes to the store — because I chose every single style myself. In Italy.
These are from Nero Giardini, a brand started in 1975. Just this past Fall, I attended their 50th anniversary celebration in Milan. If you see any styles you’d like to see before we put them on the floor today, send us a message.

Yesterday morning Fiabesca was at the Kentucky Derby Museum Hat Show at Churchill Downs. Italian shoes met Derby fashion. 🌹

Alongside the milliners selected by the Derby itself — women who have been making couture hats for Churchill Downs for decades.
