If you own a business, you’ve probably heard plenty of “you shoulds.” 😅

And sometimes? It’s really good advice.

But good advice doesn’t automatically mean it’s right for the business you’re trying to build.

Listen. Learn. Ask questions. Then decide what actually fits.

Advice should help you make decisions. It shouldn’t make them for you.

I still catch myself feeling guilty when I’m not working on my business.

Maybe it’s taking an evening off.
Maybe it’s watching a baseball game.
Maybe it’s sitting on the couch with my family.

That little voice whispers…

“You should be working.”

But I didn’t start my business so I could feel guilty every time I enjoyed my life.

I’m still learning this myself, but I’m trying to remember that taking time for the people and moments that matter isn’t falling behind.

Sometimes it’s the whole reason we started.

Do you ever struggle with feeling like you should always be working?

More money doesn’t automatically mean it’s the right opportunity.

I’ve learned to think about more than what something could earn. I also think about the time it requires and whether it fits the kind of business (and life) I actually want to build.

There’s nothing wrong with choosing differently.

The question is: Is this the kind of business you want to build?

I don’t know who needs to hear this today…

But you don’t have to earn the right to stop working for the day.

As small business owners, it’s easy to believe we’ll stop once we’re finally “caught up.”

The problem is…there’s always one more email, one more order, one more thing to do.

I’ve learned that sometimes you’re not finished.

You’re just finished for today.

And that’s okay.

There are so many places people can spend their money.

When someone chooses my small business, I never want to take that for granted.

That’s why I’ve always cared about the little things: the packaging, the handwritten note, shipping orders quickly. Not because they’re marketing tricks, but because they’re my way of saying, “Thank you for trusting me.”

At the end of the day, I don’t just want customers to remember what they bought.

I want them to remember how they felt.

What’s one small thing you do to make your customers feel appreciated?

Every business owner goes through seasons where the effort doesn’t seem to match the results.

I’ve been there too.

It’s funny how quickly we move the finish line.

We work so hard to reach a goal…

Then the moment we get there, we’re already focused on the next one.

I’ve been guilty of that more times than I can count.

There’s nothing wrong with dreaming bigger or setting new goals.

Just don’t forget to be proud of how far you’ve already come.

Your customers are giving you feedback every single day.

Sometimes it’s through reviews.
Sometimes it’s through repeat orders.
Sometimes it’s through the products they quietly stop buying.

I’ve learned to pay attention to those clues.

But I’ve also learned not to let sales alone determine every decision I make.

The goal isn’t to build whatever sells.

The goal is to build a business that serves your customers and fits the life you’re trying to create.
