I'm not really one to talk about this, but it's been a couple of years since I lost two of my brothers back to back. In total, l've lost all three of my brothers, and I don't think I've ever fully processed any of it.
I think I buried myself in work, creating, running, biking-anything that kept my mind busy. If I'm always moving, it's because I have to. It's how l've kept going. Most days I'm okay, or at least I think I am. But when the grief hits, it hits hard. It's like never gave myself the chance to stop and feel it because was too focused on surviving and moving forward.
One thing I can say l've learned through all of this is resilience.
I've had nothing before. I know what it's like to lose everything.
I know what it's like to feel like you have nobody by your side.
That's probably why I've become so used to people coming and going. Whether someone stays or leaves, I've learned to keep moving. It's a strength, but it's also one of my biggest flaws.
I'm still learning how to live with the loss, but one thing I know for sure is that no matter what life has thrown at me, I keep getting back up.
