32 years ago on Sept. 1st, 1990, Soundgarden released “Room a Thousand Years Wide” on Sub Pop as a bonus to their Singles of the Month Club. The song was a Matt composition whose lyrics were written by Kim. It features a scorching saxophone solo by Scott Granlund!

This single was Ben’s debut record with Soundgarden! He wrote the main riffs for the disc’s b-side, “H.I.V. Baby”. Kim added the riff for the solo and outro, and Chris wrote the lyrics. Kim left his name off of the b-side’s credit, because he thought it’d be cool that one side read, (Cameron, Thayil) and the flip read, (Shepherd, Cornell). Haha! So cool...
..Anyway, these tracks were recorded by Stuart Hallerman at Avast! Studios. “Room a Thousand Years Wide” was re-recorded by Terry Date for Badmotorfinger.
