Christian Jolivette’s coaching journey began when he took over a football program that had gone 1–6. In his first season, no one else wanted to take on the team, so Jolivette stepped up and coached it alone as the head coach. Through his leadership, the program improved to a 6–1 record.
He also became the head basketball coach, leading the team to an impressive 26–4 record in his first season. Over three seasons, Jolivette established himself as a coach who could develop athletes, build belief, and create winning cultures. During that time, he also served as an assistant coach at the high school level before stepping away from coaching.
After three seasons, Jolivette stepped away to pursue his dream of playing professional basketball. He made the team in Mexico where his playing journey was eventually cut short by a severe Grade 3 adductor tendon avulsion, forcing him into a long rehabilitation process. Might we mention he did so good in camp he got an NBA workout and still went through the injury. “I just wanted to knock that off the bucket list, we all dream to play in the NBA, I was fortunate enough to grace a NBA floor” Jolivette said.
While recovering, Jolivette also saw legal matters from his past cleared, giving him an opportunity to refocus his life. Rehabilitation ultimately led him back to what had always been part of his identity—coaching.
What began as a return to the game became a renewed purpose. Today, Jolivette uses his experiences as a player, coach, and survivor of adversity to develop athletes while teaching lessons that extend far beyond basketball.
