BEAUTIFULLY DEPARTED | Center piece 💀🌿🦋

We spend so much time fearing death, loss, and the things that could go wrong that sometimes we forget to take in the life happening around us.

Bad things happen. We lose people we love. We carry grief. But we also keep living. We grow around what we’ve been through. We love, laugh, create, remember—and somehow, flowers still bloom.

That’s what this piece represents to me.

The bones are still there. They aren’t hidden beneath the beauty. The beauty grows around them. 🌹

Death is part of life. Maybe we don’t have to be so afraid of it. Maybe the reminder that our time is limited can make us appreciate the beauty of being here a little more. 🖤

Marriage test: assembling a 7-foot animatronic together. 💀😂 The marriage is still intact.

We won Reaper’s Ride from HalloweenCostumes.com during our trip to TransWorld, and we’re finally getting it ready for our Halloween home haunt!

This rig has a lot going on:
🐎 7 feet tall and 68 inches long
💚 Flashing green horse eyes
💀 Moving front hooves and turning heads
🔊 Multiple Reaper phrases, a moving jaw and horse sound effects
🌫️ Fog from the horse’s mouth when connected to a fog machine, sold separately
⚙️ Adjustable volume, sensor activation and optional step-pad compatibility

For indoor or covered outdoor use; keep it dry.

I’m impressed seeing it in daylight. Now I can’t wait to see it after dark with the fog running! 🖤

This Clayface activation at Dark Hour Haunted House was such a fun way to get excited for the movie! The AI photobooth gave me a preview of life with a face made of clay… and I’m not sure how I feel about it. 🫠😂

Guess we’ll see how Matt Hagen handles it when Clayface hits theaters October 23! 🎬

Invited to look fear in the face. 🖤

We kicked off the excitement for Clayface at Dark Hour Haunted House The energy was high, the crowd was ready to get scared, and I felt right at home.

Thank you for having us out for a night of horror! Catch Clayface in theaters October 23. 🎬

A whole year of 3D printing skulls and it was totally worth it!!!! Are you ready for the Bone Temple?! This is my mini scaled down version of the bone skull pile from 28year later: Bone Temple. I used some different materials for the structure that I probably won’t ever use again, but I am happy with it.

Foam pumpkin carving: Dremel vs. handsaw 🎃 Which tool gives you better control?

I’m turning Toxic FX foam pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns for our Halloween haunt, and sharing the trial and error behind those sharp teeth and jagged faces.

I love their realistic shapes, but getting the cuts right takes some experimenting. My go-to method? Outline with my Dremel, then use a small handsaw to cut out the design. Here’s what worked for me and where the Dremel cutting bit gave me trouble.

Watch the handsaw demo at the end, and save this for your next Halloween DIY. 👻

What’s your go-to pumpkin carving tool?

🥀💀 THE MOURNING VEIL — DIY Gothic Halloween Chandelier

Here’s how I created The Mourning Veil, one of my favorite pieces from this year’s Halloween display.

Built with cascading red and green amaranthus from At Home , black creepy cloth, skulls with the tops removed, and flicker flame bulbs from The Home Depot , it was designed to feel like something once beautiful that has slowly been reclaimed by death and decay.

For the skulls, I used 3D prints, but inexpensive Halloween skulls work too. Just remove the tops so they can sit around the flicker bulbs and create that candlelit skull effect. 💀🕯️

I love Halloween DIYs that feel like they have a story behind them, and The Mourning Veil has quickly become one of my favorites.

Save this for your Halloween builds 🖤
Would you make one for your haunt?

Ok, HOA. We can be friends. Can you tell I am excited for Halloween?! I think the HOA is catching on that we want more time to enjoy our Halloween yard displays.
