Rotimi Fani-Kayode: Black Q***r Identity and Spiritual Power
Rotimi Fani-Kayode, born in nineteen fifty-five, was a Nigerian-born photographer whose work reshaped Black British art in the nineteen eighties. Through striking, staged portraits, he explored the intersection of race, q***r identity, and Yoruba spirituality. Creating during the AIDS crisis, his images challenged Western representations of the Black male body and reclaimed it with power, ritual, and desire. Though he died in nineteen eighty-nine, his work remains essential to understanding q***r and diasporic visual culture.
