I still take horrible pictures 🤣

So what happened was....

My friend/bffs sister called me Saturday and asked if I could have mums ready by Friday for Compass Academy. "Of course! What are their colors again?"

Royal and Green.

I did not buy green ribbon 😅

So I called the wholesaler, asked if I could get ribbon by Wed/Thurs if I ordered Saturday and she said "oh definitely!"

It did not get here Wednesday. Or Thursday. It got here today 😅

So after having a bit of a meltdown after talking to the UPS driver and dozen calls yesterday, I drove over to the Odessa Hobby Lobby and was able to find *some* green. Nothing I could braid with, but hey, we do what we can right?

Got home around 6 and got to work on all the bits I wasn't able to do beforehand. She came over to get them this morning and helped finish actually putting them together.

I'm not mad about it!

Learned a lot, cried a bit about letting anyone down, but it worked out in the end and I'm not disappointed in how they turned out with the time I had and the supplies I had on hand!

They arent perfect, there are a lot of things I'd fix if I had had more time, but overall... not too terrible! 😅

Also, I have the flu... again. Maybe pulling an all-nighter wasn't the best move as today I'm feeling pretty rough, and I'll have to wait a few more days before I can work on orders (and yes, the ribbon can be Lysol-ed if you're careful)... but I'll be able to sit down and plan out the rest of this seasons mums and garters at least!

Long post dont mind me 🤣:

I'm going to be super real yall. I'm a scientist by education, and my lab partners throughout college and university can tell you I'm VERY meticulous and methodical about how I do things.

Im big on prepping everything I need AND some, *before* I start, so that when I get rolling, there aren't any snags.

Which means actually doing mums for purchase this year - instead of just for my friends - I will have bits and pieces ready. My first fully completed mums, for Compass Academy, will be finished and photographed (probably poorly) Thursday (last minute orders yall!).

I do this because once I get started, I want to get that piece done. I want to work on one item at a time and make sure it's of the highest quality. I want each item to be individual and don't want to churn out the same thing over and over and all my pieces look the same. I want to have everything I might possibly need at hand, right then, to make it perfect.

When you get a mum or garter from me, it will be solidly put together, with the utmost attention to detail. I'm a classic female with ADHD. I hyperfocus and am super detail oriented (when I'm not going off on tangents ... this post for example🤣).

I've gotten a lot of asks for pictures, but I haven't really taken pictures of my mums before the one I did for Sai at Christoval last year... because I never planned on attempting to make a business out of it.

I honestly went to wholesalers in mid July to buy ribbon and supplies, then had vacation, back to school, a birthday party and influenza A AND B 😅.....

Over the last year, I have taken online classes, gone to lunches, and talked to and gained wisdom with the BIG mum people in DFW and Houston who have been ridiculously helpful.... The mum maker community is weirdly cohesive and I love it....

All that to say... no, I won't have pictures of finished pieces aside from the ONE one my page until Thursday or Friday. Because I've cannibalized my previous mums for pieces already 😅

HOWEVER, I can assure you that I have quality products, knowledge, skill and the creativity to make anything you dream of. If I don't know how to do something, I'll ask someone that does and make it happen. There is no chain, braid or design I'm not willing to tackle (except Texas shapes and Paws... those are dumb and I'm done messing with them this year 💀... I'll work on perfecting those for next year 🤣)....

This isn't a scam, I'm allergic to latex so my balloon arch career is tragically gone. Mums are something I, as a proud Texan, am very passionate about and LOVE creating.... second only to balloons 🤣

Yes, I do want to end up the first person people recommend when asked, and to be the top recommendation in Midland Odessa.... but at the end of the day: I love the tradition, I want to expand on what is the "norm" in our area and have the opportunity to make some really incredible memories, and I want students to have something they love - that will last... especially if they're weirdos like me that still have their mums in their parents storage somewhere😅

TLDR; I'm not a scam, I just do things differently and there will be pictures on Friday 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Terrible pictures of my new favorite, the Texas twist (for Midland Christian) for the algorithm... and yes, my husband just LOVES that I'm using our brand new blinds as hangers/storage 🤣. And yes you can see them when you drive past after dark 💀

Hi loves! Just a reminder that deposits for Greenwood were due Friday! All orders will be prioritized based on HOCO date and whether the deposit is paid. I have a worksheet of braids, backer styles and cutouts for each item ordered already and am working through the individual pieces before I put them all together, in order to try and keep each one as individual as possible!

If you have any inspiration pictures don't hesitate to send them and I'll do my best to work the most important parts in within your budget. Highlight anything you NEED included and we'll work it out!!!

My goal is to provide the most elegant and intricate options available, while maintaining affordability.

I have several last minute orders (because teenagers are the best 🤪), that will be finished by Thursday to finally have pictures of finished items. 😅

DFW/Houston style on a West Texas scale. Your mum doesn't have to outweigh you to be gorgeous and memorable!.... but that can happen too 😉

Ok serious face on:

Deposits (1/3 of the total) will be due 4 weeks before your homecoming. Total must be paid in full before or at pickup!

If ordering last minute/past the due date, deposits are due on order.

If you order the week of, there will be a $10/$15/$20 rush fee based on if you order basic/standard/deluxe.

I will do my very best to get all orders done a week ahead of homecoming dates. The earlier you get your order in, the earlier I can get them completed! The absolute minimum timeframe for a deluxe mum is 4 days because of the extra details. Rush orders will be limited to what I have prepared and in stock.

I can accept Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle, ApplePay, cash or money orders.

Finally have my price list/braid options all typed out. I'm in the process of making examples of everything to add to a poster board for easier visualization! Ill also have backer ribbon options to chose from.

Basic is just that. Basic. You can pick out braids separately but it's an option for YOU to customize!

Standard is with 3-4 braids, one large cutout and 3 small cutouts. Name chain/ribbon. Minimal extra details/bling.

Deluxe is the most detailed option. 5-6+ braids/chains, Multiple cutouts and ALL the bling, specialty ribbon and details you want.

Ok, while yes, I've been sick, this braid has also kicked my butt. I have spent FAR too much time figuring it out though I swear I did it easily last year 🤣 bless the creater hcooper/craftybug for being able to knock them out the way she does!

With that said, they will be special order only. I'm not making a bunch extra of these unless they are special requests 😅 unless I get caught up on all my premade and have time on my hands. Next year i promise to have a bunch ready to go in multiple colors and sizes.

$20 for a 36in braid (full sized mum) though... they're worth it. They look SUPER neat and will look even cooler with specialty ribbons. They're bulky, dimensional and just... awesome. They do take a ton of ribbon and a lot of time though (right now, maybe I'll get better and be able to whip them out in the future 😅).

They can be made in 7/8 or 9/16(which would make it a bit smaller and less of a centerpiece) and if you google search a Peyton Braid, they look super pretty blinged out, which I can do!

Right now I'm just grateful I was able to figure it out and finish one full sized braid. I'm going to go make myself feel better by playing with heart chains and möbius braids 🤪. I'll work on zig zags, zippers, cottages/corsets tomorrow and now that I have my neat little jig, I'll have plenty of candy braids/bows/butterflies done this week!

I'm hoping I can have a full catalogue of available chains and braids by Friday with updated pricing. Along with a bunch of ready to go/add your customization options available. I've been holding off trying to get each one the way I'd want it on my own mum before adding them to an album.

*most of the items I'll have pictures of will be in Greenwood colors, HOWEVER that doesn't mean I don't have ALL the local school colors (aside from green.... sorry Kermit/Monohans, I spaced on that and will order it if anyone needs it) and anything pictured can be made with your choice of colors with or without specialty ribbon or diamond dust.

I'll also be posting pictures of a special to me senior mum for Cristoval as it comes together. It will have ALL the things and be pretty extra for Cristoval 😅. Im trying to be good and not make it too gigantic 🤪 .... but if you want gigantic... I'm your girl!

Eeeek! I LOVE this diamond-pattern diamond dust ribbon, it is SOOOO PRETTY in a braid! But it's also not *too* girly, and would look great on a garter!

I need to get good (aka, not night time with "soft white" incandescent bulbs😅) pictures.

Just wanted to post a picture of my "example" mum and braids and *some* of the fun ribbon I snagged. I have a few of the more intricate braids I need to work on examples of, but now I have so many ribbon options I'm doing the ADHD paralysis thing and having a hard time deciding on what combinations to use🤣.

*Please note, this mum is an example of a few braids ONLY. There are no cutouts, no embellishments, trinkets, specialty ribbon, lettering or anything else.

I finally found my cricut and supplies in the shop after moving out and back into our house so I'll play with cutouts and personalization tomorrow and post a few options as soon as I get a chance.

**don't forget, I have the largest supply in Midland of the last of the Columbia Blue that will be available for a few years. It is no longer in production and all that is available now is "light/baby/french" blue. If you're a GISD purist, you'll be hard pressed to find it anywhere else!

Also, kinda obsessed with the ombré look! I'm going to have to play with that more!

I'm donating a custom mum to GISD Project Graduation for the class of 2028.

The mum on view at Roosters tonight is VERY basic aside from the braids. I tried to get as many included as I could in the time I had between vacation, school starting and a birthday party 😅

There are many more available to add to your mum. I just didn't have the time to finish as many as I needed to. I have lots of customization options too! I left this one un-decorated.

Eeeek! Got a bunch of basics yesterday and am looking forward to my *spreadsheet genius* hubby fixing me up with a fancy chart to show exactly what I need for everyone! We're mathin' here yall! 😅

-I should have a pretty good start on bases by the end of next week, and if you have already placed an order, deposits will be needed by the first week of August.

-I should have at least a few completed examples that will just need customization by the 1st!!!

I'm excited, I've already gotten some really cool ribbon I can't wait to use and have an appointment with the best mum supply manufacturer in the country tomorrow!

As soon as I have a few good samples ready, Kids at Heart Photography is going to take some excellent pictures of the basics I'll be offering!
