Thought I’d put my insomnia to good use and share what many of my evenings are like.

Since I sculpt and paint these babies completely before bisque firing them, the first few days of each batch are a crunch. If I want to finish a batch by a certain date, I have to schedule the bisque and glaze firing carefully to allow 16 hrs for bisque, 24 hrs for glaze, and of course all the work in between each firing.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have quite a few new followers and a ton of commission requests which is awesome! But the reason I sometimes have a 3-4 week processing time is because I can only finish so many before it’s kiln time each week.

Hopefully once my market season dies down, I can get ahead of inventory before it sells out so I’m not playing catch up each week! But I feel so grateful to have this problem, so thank you all for this amazing support 🀍

To all my ceramicists, what are your thoughts on underglazing greenware before bisque firing? I feel like the con is that it’s very fragile, but the pro is that it can be very forgiving (plus it saves some energy and time because I don’t have to bisque twice). If you underglaze your work, I’m curious to know your preferred methods!
