Tell people what you do... on local Facebook groups and even Nextdoor!

That may seem obvious, but you'd be surprised by how many small business owners DON'T post on FB groups or Nextdoor but these are seriously some of the best and free resources to utilize - especially if you're just starting out.

When I started my first sewing business, I had the best responses from post I made on Nextdoor, and the best part was most of my new clients were right down the street from me! From there, I was able to build up a clientele quickly and before I knew it, I had enough business to open a store front.

Everyone needs a seamstress- they just need to know you're ready to help :)

While Wild Mongoose is officially closed, the spirit behind it lives on! I’m excited to introduce Until the Final Stitch — the new name for this page and a continuation of my mission to promote textile sustainability through clothing alterations.

This next chapter will be more than just sharing what I’ve learned as a seamstress and former shop owner; it will be about empowering others to take the leap and start their own alterations business! I’ll be sharing the tips I learned the hard way, behind-the-scenes lessons, and even offer consultations for both sewing and business (link in bio).

My goal is to create a space where aspiring tailors and seamstresses feel confident building a business on their own terms.

I’m so proud of what Wild Mongoose stood for and all the wonderful customers who supported us along the way; but I’m even more excited for what comes next — right up until the final stitch. 🧵

Everyone has been so gracious since we announced our closure! We still don't know our final closing date but in the mean time we have decided to take a limited number of walk ins, on a first come first serve basis. We won't be scheduling appointments so we recommend calling us ahead of time to make sure we'll be able to take your clothes and meet your deadline.

Over the last week, I've felt the need to tell a select few customers and now I'm sharing the news with the rest of you...

Here's what you need to know:

1.) We have no close date (yet) so we will continue to take work until our building has a new leasee.
2.)After this week, we will be going to appointment only. This is to best control our work flow and not take on more work than we have time for.
3.) Keep following us for updates as we aim to shut things down...

Clothing Swap Details:

When: oct 12, 11am - 3pm
Where: Wild Mongoose Alterations in The District on 46

Rules:
•clothes must be adult sizes and in gently used condition (would you want clothes that are damaged, stained or worn out??)
•Drop off up to 8 gently used garments to Wild Mongoose Alterations during business hours before Oct 11.
•you will receive one voucher for every one item you bring
•show up Oct 12 to the Districts Fall Festival and shop through the clothing swap area, located on the concrete slab next to Wild Mongoose.
•enjoy your "new to you" clothes! :)
