BOOK: Pirates & Rogues of Monterey Bay

BOOK: Pirates & Rogues of Monterey Bay Pirates & Rogues of Monterey Bay is your guide book to the pirate-related history of California's Monterey Peninsula. Available: Amazon Books and Kindle

Pirates were (and still are) basically crews of sea robbers who preyed upon merchant ships and treasure galleons. Pirates were a plague on the high seas during the "Age of Pirates" (c. 1570 to 1730) and then again during a brief flare-up period in the early years of the 19th century. Though most pirate activity took place in the waters of the Atlantic and the Caribbean, there was also some pirate

activity along the Pacific Coast of the United States. No where more so than at Monterey Bay! The 150-page book, The Pirate History of Monterey Bay, documents the pirate and pirate-related history that took place at Peninsula locales such as Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Pebble Beach. The book is also your guide to visiting these historic spots. AVAILABLE now on Amazon Books, Amazon Kindle, as well as selected book stores and gift shops in the Monterey area.

Reverse of the Spanish cob coin found at Carmel River Beach. An Image of this reverse did not make it into the book (hopefully a later edition) but it does show how much more wear and corrossion there was to this reverse side than to the obverse (see that pic in this album)-- meaning this reverse side almost certainly exposed to the elements, especially water.
