Bullying has a way of making someone else's words become your inner voice.

After hearing the same thing enough times, you might start wondering if they're right.
They're not.

Someone choosing to target your appearance, identity, interests, personality, or differences tells you something about their behaviorโ€”not your worth.
And no, I'm not going to tell you to "just ignore it."

Sometimes ignoring it isn't enough.
Tell someone. Document what's happening. Keep speaking up if it continues.

Find the adults who will actually listen and help.

You deserve to exist without constantly making yourself smaller just to avoid becoming someone's target.

๐Ÿ’œ Take up space.

Therapist confession: I f**k up too.

I overthink things. I say the wrong thing sometimes. I make choices I wish I'd made differently. I have days where knowing all the coping skills in the world doesn't mean I'm perfectly using them.

Being a therapist doesn't make me immune to being humanโ€”and going to therapy isn't supposed to make you immune either.

The goal isn't to reach some magical version of yourself who never struggles, reacts, makes mistakes, or needs help again.

The work is learning what you do AFTER.
Can you own it? Can you repair? Can you learn something? Can you give yourself enough grace to try again?

Then you're growing.

Messy humans are allowed in my office. Including the one sitting in the therapist's chair. ๐Ÿ’œ

Therapy should never be about convincing you to become a version of yourself that makes everyone else more comfortable.

Especially when it comes to identity.

Sometimes the work isn't changing who you are. It's unpacking everything that taught you there was something wrong with being you.

Sometimes its realizing that it's not YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to educate those who love you.
Instead it's realizing those who love you should be ENCOURAGED to go on their own educational journey.

You deserve relationships, communities, and therapeutic spaces where your whole self gets to walk through the door. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’œ

No shrinking required.

We need to talk more about harm reduction.

When someone has relied on an unhealthy coping mechanism for a long time, simply saying "stop" doesn't teach them what to do with the feelings that made them reach for it in the first place.

We work on understanding the need underneath the behavior. We build healthier coping skills alongside it.

We celebrate the pauses, the safer choices, the times they reached out, and the progress that might look small from the outside.

The goal is safety and sustainable changeโ€”not shame.
๐Ÿ’œ Progress is still progress when it happens slowly.

Self-care isn't always candles, naps, and taking a break.

Sometimes it's making the appointment. Setting the boundary. Answering the email. Having the uncomfortable conversation. Getting out of bed when you'd rather disappear under the blankets.

And sometimes? It absolutely IS resting and doing nothing.

Self-care is asking yourself, What do I actually need right now? โ€” and being willing to listen to the answer.
๐Ÿ’œ Progress over perfection.

I don't see a diagnosis.

I don't see someone who needs to be "fixed."

I see a person with a story.

Someone who's survived hard things.
Someone who's made mistakes.
Someone who's still trying.
Someone who's worthy of compassion.

Your flaws don't make you less deserving of love or belongingโ€”they make you human.

The real you has always been enough.

How much of your life have you spent saying "sorry" for taking up space?

Sorry for being too emotional.
Sorry for asking for help.
Sorry for being different.
Sorry for existing.

You don't have to shrink yourself to make others comfortable.

Your voice matters.
Your presence matters.
You matter.

Take up the space that has always belonged to you.

๐Ÿ’œ Progress over perfection.

When someone is struggling, our first response shouldn't be assumptions, punishment, or raised voices.

It should be curiosity.

"What happened?"
"What are you carrying?"
"How can I help?"

Behind every behavior is a story. When we take the time to listen instead of judge, we create opportunities for healing instead of shame.

Whether you're a parent, teacher, friend, or therapist, leading with curiosity can change someone's life.

Authenticity isn't always easy.

Sometimes being yourself means risking judgment, misunderstanding, or rejection. That can be incredibly hard.

But every time you choose to live in alignment with who you truly are instead of who others expect you to be, you're choosing courage.

Don't let fear convince you that hiding is safer than living.

The world needs the real you.

So many people grow up believing they need to change who they are to be accepted.

You don't.

Your identity isn't a problem to solve or something to hide. It's a part of what makes you, you.

Whether you're exploring who you are or learning to embrace yourself after years of doubt, know this: you deserve spaces where you can show up authentically and be met with respect.

You are worthy exactly as you are.

๐Ÿ’œ Progress over perfection.
