Mmm mmm liver and onions. Furrs had the best but covid put them out of business. Rt 66 Family Buffet recently opened there with about the same set up. Only 2 kinds of people in the world, those that like L&O and those that don't.

We had a visit from Col Allen West today who is seeking the GOP nomination for Texas Governor. The campaign has committed to using Texas/Made in USA products for their promotional items. We have printed the first round of tees with the logo and slogan "Defending the Texas Republic". Col West is impressive as a person and knowledgeable of issues important to Texas and the nation. We enjoyed showing them our "growing t-shirt" process, a field tour and tour of the old Samnorwood School. I believe Gov Abbott has a real challenger here.

Keeping water for the cattle during this frigid weather spell is a challenge. I rely on many sources of energy to accomplish this.
I have a solar water pump, a windmill, electric pumps and rural water system water. The solar was good when the sun was shining and I kept the snow off of the panel, the windmill was great keeping steady stream of 60 degree water which prevented the tank from icing over(until the wind stopped and the sucker rod froze in the pipe). The electric wells were ok as our grid uses a variety of sources including natural gas, coal and wind to keep the power on but the pipes froze preventing them from pumping. I had to use a propane torch to thaw them and also a wood fire to thaw a deep line. Then there was the gasoline in the chainsaw to cut through the 10in thick ice--I felt like a Minnesota ice fisherman.
Oh and I can't forget the nuclear reaction keeping the sun burning to give us some radiation heating, stir the wind currents for the mill and to hit the solar panel to convert to electricity. We are very blessed to have all these options and would be a mess with out the variety.
