Today, I had a client cry tears of joy. 🥹
This is why I love what I do. To be able to mend something as simple as an old button up, brighten up someone’s day & preserve memories is the best part of being a seamstress.
This client brought me his favorite Woolrich button ups, they were worn, badly. Initially he just wanted to turn the collars (an old school sewing repair technique, you remove the collar, flip it over & reattach) well, the collars & surrounding material was a little too delicate at this point. So I did what had to be done, using the good half of the collar & a comparative piece of fabric, I rebuilt each of the collars. I used the damaged half to strategically patch the rest of the shirt, nothing went to waste or the scrap bin for this project! It took days to complete but it was worth every minute.
My heart is so full today because of this kind, appreciative man.
I always say, I’m here to help.
Don’t throw out your favorite pieces, we may be able to mend them, if we can’t, we can repurpose or upcycle. 😄 More mending & upcycling means less fast fashion in landfills or worse, our oceans & otherwise.

Y’all Are Not Ready for this Before & After….
My client here brought me this gorgeous McClintock dress from Etsy & it was at least a size too small in the bust. She came to me & wanted to do a corset back. [and needed it quick! good thing she’s one of my favorites! 😉]
I’ll be honest, I have never done a corset back before.
I also added loops & made a couple custom buttons to hang the tulle with. It was one of my first attempts at free handing UV resin so aside from being a little bumpy on the edges, I think they came out awesome.
As I was lacing it up for her final fitting the excitement of it coming together was too much to handle, it really looks like a princess gown; which is exactly what she wanted, it’s for an Anastasia cosplay.

Here’s a dress that my clients picked up for a bargain, unfortunately I don’t have a before picture, but it was too big & baggy in the chest, armpits, shoulders, neckline.
I got the vibe she didn’t hold out but hope for this dress & tbh, it made me question my own abilities.
Alterations: took in sleeves, underarms & waist, reduced neckline & gave it texture with this adorable braided stitch at the neckline.
The dress fit perfect & when she came out to show us how it looked, she had an enormous smile & seemed totally relieved that we were able to fix it. [I know I was.]
It looks like it was made for her now. 🪡🧵

My sewing student learned so much in 3 sessions, going from only having a basic understanding of a sewing machine to yesterday when she hemmed her slacks with a zig zag stitch, I think they came out great & she didn’t think she could sew straight!!
I’m super proud!
