The enemy doesn't have to destroy your family…
He just has to distract it.

Most families aren't falling apart overnight.
They're slowly drifting apart, one distraction at a time.

One more hour on a screen.
One less conversation around the table.
One more moment missed because everyone was looking somewhere else.

Strong families aren't built by accident.
They're built through time together, eye contact, shared experiences, and choosing each other over the constant pull of technology.

So today, make one simple choice: put the phones away, gather the people you love, and be fully present.
Because the moments that strengthen a family are usually the ordinary ones.

Follow for daily reminders to look up and be present.
Share this with someone who's building a strong family.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Don't let a busy life steal your sense of wonder.

They'll always have each other.
That's one of the biggest reasons we had our kids close together.

Sure, life is a little louder.
A little messier.
And there's never a dull moment.

But getting to watch built-in best friends grow up together is something we wouldn't trade for anything.
The giggles, the adventures, the imaginary games, and the little memories they're creating together are worth every bit of the chaos.

These days won't last forever, so we're choosing to enjoy them while they're here.
Because one day, we hope they'll look back and remember that growing up together was one of life's greatest gifts.

Funny how the places with the worst reception usually give us the best connection.

Ten minutes online will tell you what's wrong in the world. But ten minutes offline will tell you what in the world is wrong with you.

Funny how the things that recharge us don't require an outlet.

When we're bored, our first instinct is usually to reach for our phones. A few taps later, we're watching videos, scrolling posts, and filling time. But somehow, we still feel bored.

What if the answer isn't more content?
What if it's getting out into the real world instead?

This week, find a local event in your community. A farmers market, outdoor concert, craft fair, small-town festival, car show, or community gathering.

You don't have to know anyone.
You don't need a plan.
Just show up.

You'll hear live music instead of earbuds. You'll talk to real people instead of reading comments. You'll make memories instead of consuming someone else's.

The funny thing is that most of the moments we remember later aren't the ones we planned perfectly. They're the ones we stumbled into because we decided to leave the house.

Your community is full of things happening right now.
Put down the phone and go be part of one of them.

Unplug Weekly Tip #182: attend a local community event

Face down isn't the same as put away.
Think about that for a second.

When your phone is sitting on the table—even upside down—it's still part of the conversation.
It's still a reminder that something else could interrupt.

A text.
An email.
A notification.
And whether we realize it or not, it changes how we show up.

Because being present isn't just about looking at someone.
It's about giving them the confidence that, for this moment, they have your full attention.

No competing priorities.
No waiting for the next buzz.
No wondering if something else is more important.
Just presence.

So here's a simple challenge today:
When you're having dinner, meeting a friend, or spending time with your family... don't turn your phone upside down.
Put it away.

Because the people in front of you deserve more than a fraction of your attention.
Follow for daily reminders to look up and be present.
Share this with someone who values real connection.

This might not solve all my problems.
But it's a pretty good place to start.

If this makes me boring, I'm perfectly okay with that.
