When we made the decision to close the storefront a few months ago, I’ll be honest — it didn’t make much sense to me. I thought I had it all figured out. I would bring Raelynn with me, keep The Blessed Thread going, and somehow make it all work.
We prayed constantly for direction, and eventually, the Lord gave us peace about moving TBT online and focusing on our mobile boutique. I was thankful for that peace, but I still didn’t fully understand why.
Then, just a little over 24 hours after Raelynn was born, she was admitted to the NICU. And after a few days, everything made a little more sense.
That week was one of the hardest experiences of my life so far. I was recovering from a C-section while leaving my baby every few hours for vitals, medications, and basic postpartum care. The guilt of stepping away from her — even when I knew she was exactly where she needed to be — was overwhelming.
There were tears, exhaustion, fear, questions, and so many prayers. But somewhere in the middle of all of it, the Lord began teaching us what surrendering really looks like.
The NICU has a way of reminding you that you were never really in control to begin with. It has a way of quieting everything else and showing you what truly matters.
And I kept thinking… How would I have done this if the storefront was still open?
The answer is, I don’t know.
It took me over a week to even want to open my laptop and think about TBT. Inventory was sitting in boxes. Booths needed attention. Plans had changed. And none of that mattered nearly as much as getting our girl home.
Looking back now, I think I’m finally beginning to understand that closing the storefront was just one small piece of a much bigger story God was already writing.
We didn’t understand the redirection then. But He did.
Raelynn will be 8 weeks old tomorrow 🥲and after these last two months of recovering, adjusting, and soaking up every minute with her, I finally feel ready to slowly dive back into all things The Blessed Thread!
I’m ready to find a new routine that works for all of it — being Raelynn’s mama, being a wife, and being the owner of TBT. It may look different than it did before, but I’m excited to see what this next chapter looks like.
So yes… PRE-ORDERS, GRAPHICS, new arrivals, mobile boutique, and all the TBT things are coming back! 🥹
I’m giving myself grace as I figure out this new rhythm, but I’m also so excited to create again, dream again, and bring TBT back to life in this new season.
Sometimes God’s redirections don’t make sense until you’re standing in the middle of the reason.
And now, I’m just so incredibly grateful.
For our beautiful girl.
For answered prayers.
For Nick.
For our families.
For every meal, message, prayer, and helping hand.
For the people who continued to support TBT while I haven’t been as active.
And most of all, for the grace that carried us through.
We are so blessed.
Here’s to 8 weeks of Raelynn… and a brand new chapter of The Blessed Thread. 🥲🤍
