🌈 Cool story alert:
One of the 7,634 reasons I love my job;
When I host Estate Sales, I see SO many people. I never know why people come to shop: sometimes y’all are just browsing to get out of the house, saying hi, stopping by because you knew the person, hunting for that specific item or random treasure you didn’t know you needed. The sales boil down to a matter of days, and if you miss them, well sorry about ya. Things sell fast with a sense of urgency unlike any other shopping experience. This Lenox trinket box, (trinket boxes being mighty popular lately), was left after the first weekend and was featured in the first day of our discount sale. My sweet regulars came in and brought this up to check out. Their reason for coming to this particular sale was because they knew Mrs. Peecher. Her mother, (and grandmother), Mattie Clapton was best friends with her. They have both since passed. Out of all things in this house, they happened to find the ONE item that had their grandmother’s name on it. It was gifted by Mrs. Clopton to Mrs. Peecher. Seriously! How wild is that. The joy something so simple brought to them was worth doing this entire sale alone. This job allows me to re-home those small treasures that meant something big to someone at one point in hopes to get it into the hands of someone who would appreciate the item just as much. It is just “stuff” to most people and let’s be honest, you can’t take it with you when you go. But it’s the little moments like this truly make my job worth it. No amount of money can buy that kind of joy for that special memory.
