Getting iron on patches attached to our favorite items can be a headache.
My trick is to make sure the placement is right. Then, protect the reverse side of the item or pocket, use a pressing cloth designed to distribute the heat evenly across the patch and carefully iron with the highest setting. Always test before attempting on the final item (I use my own items to test before ever working on a client project). The key is properly melting the glue on the patch to have it adhere to the textile I’m working with.
For extra security, I will then either hand sew or use my machine (based on location) to secure the patch. Heavy duty polyester thread is always the best bet to make sure the item withstands future adventures.
Tomorrow, 19 August, I will be at The Kingpin. Come see me if you have items in need of repair! Grab an adult beverage and let’s chat about your items!
