Omg...i was just daydreaming in my studio and my gaze went to my (extremely filthy) smithing bench. I saw these four black metal corner bracket things and was like "Whaaaaat?" I don't seeing them mentioned in the instructions on putting the workbench together - or even seeing them included in the list of parts! But I dont have the parts list/instructions anymore. The bench feels stable, surprisingly so, for a cheap bench. Have YOU bought this bench (purchased at Walmart)? Do you remember dealing with these corners? I'm loathe to remove the top, with it's at least 24 screws(of which some barely matched with the pre-drilled holes). Because something tells me that if I put them in... the bench will be worse off!

Just added this piece to my shop. While I dont have a name for the type of stone used, I think you'd have to agree that it's beautiful. I've set it in Sterling Silver heavy on the fabrication via saw and file work and stamped motifs. One of a kind.

Finished this piece up just now. It's B***o Creek Agate, a pretty lilac purple stone found in Arizona. I tried something different with the half-bead bezel surround by shaping it to lay flat against the backplate instead of following the wire's usual curve and placing it against the bezel.

There it is! Im so e cited about this one and really hope I can cab the rest up to this standard. I've never seen anything like it. Not tgst I have seen everything there is to see, but I've seen a lot! Im going to Google lebs it and get a giggle. What do you think it will say? Im gonna go with "blue and white cabochon."

When I saw the slab of stone this is from, I knew. I just KNEW. And though this is wet, and I won't know how the polish will be until I go through all the wheels, I'm thinking it will be really good.... I have zero idea as to what this material is. I found tge slab at Cactus Joe's plant nursery in Las Vegas, of all places! The business has a crystal shop within it's location. Cactus and Crystals? Why not! Anyway, the lady who.operates the crystal shop had a grandfather(or was it her dad) who was a rock hound, and she was selling some of his slab collection. I've never seen anything similar to this, not that I know all that much. My guess is that it was collected by someone back in tge day and traded to grandpa rockhound, ased on the variety of slabs he had. There was a lot of Petrified Wood, which my guess is that was stuff he personally hounded. And then there were other materials like Turritella and Willow Creek and some stuff that looked Owyheeish. But just one or two slabs of these, whereas a lot of Pet Wood. And just the single piece of this material. I've trimmed out about five potential cabs and gave enough left on the slab for maybe five more.
