Look 3 from Sankofa Sankofa Collection. Corset has a beaded slave ship layout center panel with triangle geographic designs to represent the triangle slave trade pathway. When Africans were placed on ships they were packed tightly and forced to lie down on a bed of hay. A trim made of raffia and leather on the corset was created to represent this fact.

Back View from look 2 of collection Sankofa Sankofa. The inspiration for this look was a combination the slave ship layouts mixed with disturbing fact about Africans being thrown overboard so much during the Atlantic slave trade that to this day sharks still frequently roam the area the slave ships took. A fabric texture was created to mimic muscles with broken brown lace to represent flesh being torn away from the muscle.

Detail Shot from look 2 of collection Sankofa Sankofa.
