What story are you telling with your outfit today?
If you don’t know the answer or have never even considered the question, you are not alone, and I definitely don’t blame you.
Experiences I had early in my life though taught me that it’s worth considering. But maybe not for the reasons you think.
You see, growing up I was extremely shy. We also moved around a lot due to my dad’s job so that, along with my shyness, made it difficult for me to approach my fellow peers and make friends.
But one thing I did have going for me? I was not shy with my outfits (go figure). As an early lover of fashion, I loved experimenting and would wear everything from neon red jeans to my mom’s costume jewelry to school.
And you know what? My classmates would come up to me and say something about my outfit, which helped to provide a point of connection for me where my words failed.
That was my inspiration and mission behind writing my new book, Dress Your Brand, which I had the true pleasure of celebrating with both old friends and new at the M.M.LaFleur showroom in Bryant Park.
We had a blast chatting about how to use what we wear to express who we are, our goals, and impact through color psychology, prints/patterns, fabrics and outfit inspo from M.M. Lafleur.
50%+ of communication is nonverbal after all, so learning the language of what we wear can be an incredibly helpful asset. Plus, it’s fun!
Thank you so much to those who came and I can’t wait to see how you tell your story through your style. Also, a special thank you to the lovely Krista Sande-Kerback for being my model for the evening!
If you’re looking to do the same, read Dress Your Brand using the link in my bio.
