I was working for Geoffrey Beene in NYC when I was summoned to his showroom and asked to help a client. When I arrived I opened the door to the dressing parlor and there stood Gloria Steinem. My jaw dropped. I was fan-girling before fan-girling was even a thing. 😂

What struck me most was how kind and gracious she was. She treated me as though I were the designer, not just someone there to help. I styled her and helped choose a dress for an event. Two weeks later, a handwritten note arrived.

“Thank you so much for this beautiful dress…”

I’ve kept it for 31 years. Gloria was an icon, but to me, she was also the woman who made a young woman in an industry ruled by men.

Thank you, Gloria—for the note, for the memory, and for reminding me that I belonged in that room. 🤍

Guess who’s back?! The Hamilton kids are back in town and Thrift”ish” is officially back to being an instant vintage fashion show.
Every day, somebody walks out of the dressing room in something fabulous and I get a front-row seat. Honestly… it’s one of my favorite parts of the job.

Welcome back! Let the fashion parade begin! 💃🕺

Clinton merchants are open during this summer’s NYS Department of Transportation road and sidewalk reconstruction project.

As an extra incentive to shop local, CKIC is sponsoring six weekly drawings for a chance to win one of five $25 gift certificates for purchases made at any participating Clinton Chamber of Commerce business.

All you have to do is shop at a participating business in the village downtown area and complete an entry form to be entered to win.

Drawings are held each Thursday through August 20, 2026. All entries are also eligible to win the $500 grand prize, which will also be drawn on August 20th.
