The most successful winter training program is one that prioritizes consistency, not on hitting splits or checking off big workouts. Alex Chapin stopped by the studio to demonstrate the small rituals he preserves to consistently get out the door in freezing weather, capturing the discipline, solitude, discomfort and strange beauty of moving through a cold world.

Dirt City: Brooklyn Connector. August 2025.

We guided nearly 100 runners across asphalt and dirt to four city parks with two aid stations, bag transport and a one-of-a-kind post-run meal. Thank you to all the runners for trusting us and sharing the trails. We also could not host this event without the volunteers, pacers and partner brands that donated their time, resources and energy.

Dirt City is an ongoing and developing project. Please reach out if you want to actively participate. We are always looking for new ideas and partners to further our goal to promote the use and development of soft-surface trails across New York City.

Join us to connect four trail systems in one supported long run across Brooklyn on Saturday, August 2. Trail running exists in Brooklyn and our goal is to make it accessible and better. This unique route will show you the best trails in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park, Prospect Park, Highland Park and Forest Park.

Choose from three distances (18, 11.5 and 6.5 mile options) with two aid stations, bag transport and pace groups (7:00-8:00, 8:00-9:00 and 9:00-10:00 minutes per mile), followed by a complimentary post-run meal and refreshments from .bumi, gear raffle and hangout. Participants will also receive a goodie bag and exclusive partner discounts. Register on Eventbrite (limited spots). Preview the route on Strava.

We are excited to create a holistic and educational training experience in the city with some leading partners in the trail running industry. .research will have their popular LF 2L belts on hand for demo testing and .second will be providing fuel for both aid stations and the finish. Additional support from .eath and .

The event is free but there are limited spots. If you can no longer attend the event, we kindly ask that you please cancel your registration promptly. Complete Runners’ Notes and additional event details will be distributed the week prior.

This event is a part of Dirt City (Developing Infrastructure for Routes and Trails in New York City), a project created by to promote the use and development of soft-surface trails across New York City for running and recreation. This effort is founded on the belief that soft-surface trails provide a public health benefit for New Yorkers by increasing accessibility to the outdoors and replacing recreational activity on hard surfaces that can increase bodily injuries. Beginning with sharing education about existing trails, the long-term goal of the project is to improve maintenance of and increase investment in New York City’s trails.

Amid a historically rare early summer heat wave, the team set out to explore Long Island City and a new pedestrian path over the Queensboro Bridge, bringing them to an unfamiliar neighborhood where urban exploration served as a distraction from hot temperatures.

Tortoise Print available now at www.milerrunning.com

The print, which was first released in 2023 as part of the Base Collection, recontextualizes the classic motif from the eyewear and fashion worlds and gives a nod to running’s oldest fable of the tortoise versus the hare.

As the fastest-selling design in the brand’s history, the print returns on one of the most popular styles, the Work Running Short. Featuring a featherweight nylon stretch woven shell from Italy, a soft moisture-wicking microfiber liner and weight of less than 100 grams (size M), the short is an excellent choice for training or racing. The shell is also treated with a PFC-free water repellent coating to increase water resistance and prevent absorption.

Inspired by the classic story of the tortoise versus the hare, this unique print was developed in partnership with local print designer and runner Emily Morrison. Local Brooklyn runners will also recognize the print as tribute to the ever-present turtles of Prospect Park, who are frequently found crossing the Park loop in search of a new home during their nesting season of late May to July.

The brand manifesto is to develop modern and creatively inspired garments for the running wardrobe, and this bold print satisfies both objectives. Historically, tortoise shell was a signifier of craftsmanship, and this modern synthetic version retains rich visual intrigue, capturing a careful balance of organic complexity and aesthetic harmony. The tortoise is also an expression of the studio’s design process, which prioritizes steady improvement and substance over hasty trend-following design.
