As an immigrant from Vietnam, I know what it feels like to experience racially-motivated hate. Growing up as a young kid, people in class would call me names-“chink”, “gook”, “Charlie”-and tell me to go back to where I came from. I didn’t understand why people had so much hatred for someone they had never met or simply didn’t know. Truthfully, I wasn’t proud to be Asian when I was young. I tried to be something I was not when I came to America. As I talk with my daughter about the violence targeted towards Asian-Americans, I’m driven to help fight for better conditions and stand up against hate. With heightened events due to COVID-19, I think it’s important we stand up for ourselves and be proud of our Asian roots. Thus I created the tee.

I pledge to donate 100% of the profits towards the Support AAPI Community Fund to help AAPI organizations in communities all over the US. Hate and racism in all their forms must end, and everlasting social change must be implemented.

As we advocate for justice today, we aim to benefit the coming generations of Asian-Americans ahead. My daughter should not have to feel ashamed of her culture or race and afraid for the lives of her grandparents and other loved ones.
