Pieces as versatile as the woman wearing them Apiece Apart was born during a trip to West Texas for the designers' 30th birthdays.

Inspired by the austere and beautiful landscape, Starr Hout and Laura Cramer conceived of a simplified wardrobe, one that could be packed into a single bag - simple items that could be mixed and matched to go anywhere and do anything.

By far, our team's favorite yarn: a silk cashmere blend. It feels like a soft hug, like self care. It's even softer than cashmere, though that may sound hard to imagine. It nourishes, it warms, and it adds a layer of... soft... to your day to day. Such a treat.

Proportions with presence. The Noor Button Front Maxi has a structured cotton blend, shaped sleeves, and a flattering waist (hello, princess seams!). A little bold, but easy, not loud.

Sandals now, boots and a jacket in a couple weeks. And yes, we made a gorgeous red, plus a top. She's not shy and we love that about her.

Spotlight: The Fair Isle Mock Neck. Baby alpaca and merino wool, made in Peru, soft enough that you keep reaching for it. Browns and creams in a familiar pattern with a modern twist: a little rugged, a lot cozy. A sweater you'll still be wearing in ten years.

It's officially the season of layering. A great coat over a great sweater, a scarf tied at the neck or knotted at the waist — the kind of dressing that actually gets easier the colder it gets.

We love a base layer that can hold its own alone, a cardigan or sweater that adds warmth without bulk, and a coat that pulls the whole thing together without fighting for attention. Tie a scarf around your neck for the walk to the subway, then loop it over your shoulders once you're inside.

Nothing here is precious — it's all meant to be worn, re-worn, and rearranged depending on the day.
