VERMILLION EYES.

A velvet tank somewhere between Blade Bird and Familiar, made from Lynne Kennedy’s Christmas in July collector wish.

Feathers, motion, red eyes. A familiar made strange.

BLADE BIRD was my empty nest. And such an intimate voice I had to make this set.

Making it quietly shifted my attention from birds to movement, from feathers to choreography.

Seeing Black Swan this weekend felt like the missing piece. It put words to a direction I'd already started moving in.

I love when one creative obsession gently redirects another.

The birds aren't going anywhere. They're just teaching me new ways to look at them.

Meet STRIX, a riff on the beautiful Blade Bird by 🦉💙

SPECK - she is a KEEPER.

I release a riff every month. An obsession with a song, a theme, translated into pieces I love and share with you. A select few make it to the permanent collection. I call them KEEPERS. July is INTERMISSION, I am cleaning up the HAUS.

Goodbye, Planting Tomatoes. You were a good one.

I started this riff because I couldn’t stop listening to the song. Somewhere along the way it became tomatoes, hornworms, mildew, marigolds, compost, and this strange little turtle reaching for something just out of reach.

I can’t wait to see Lucy Dacus live at MASS MoCA at the end of the month. 🍅

I never officially released this one until a collector spotted her in the background on my about page.

I made it as an experiment. Blue pinstripes, tomato vines, a herbarium pocket.

I kept wearing the sample instead.

By the end of June I'd reached for it almost every morning. Coffee runs, studio days, grocery stores, the greenhouse.

It's lightweight, packs into nothing, doesn't wrinkle, and apparently became my uniform before I realized it.

Sometimes the pieces you hesitate to release are the ones you actually live in.
