Not my typical post on organizing but something I wanted to share
Today my sister in law, Lili would have turned 60. š¼
Itās bizarre how grief works. You can laugh and cry all in one moment. You can be angry and happy all in another moment.
I caught myself laughing at a video she sent me of aliens telling jokes and then immediate tears. The tears were for just a moment of sadness that sheās not here BUT then immediate JOY because I know where she is.
The journey with Lili that I was so honored to take and that I would not change at all gave me a deeper understanding of JOY in our Heavenly Father and the bible verse James 1:2-3
ā Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."
Itās interesting to me how Lili a self proclaimed agnostic unknowingly showed a self proclaimed Jesus lover a deeper biblical meaning of the word JOY š„¹
Itās not faking it till you make it.
Itās not slapping on a fake smile to hide pain. š š¢
Itās not ignoring the diagnosis. š§āāļø š
Its having a true understanding and contentment in God. Knowing He has you in ALL situations be it good or bad.
True JOY doesnāt change depending on your circumstances. Joy remains in the sadness, in the anger, in the confusion, in all of it.
Today Iām joyful for the part of my life that got to grow with Lilliam Illas.
Iām joyful for the sleepless nights at the hospital with her.
Iām joyful for all the hard questions she asked about my faith.
Iām joyful for her skepticism
Iām joyful because I witnessed her experience and accept Jesus.
Iām joyful because I saw her take her last breath and transition from this life to eternity with our Heavenly Father.
