“What’s a mala?”, you ask?
A mala (also known as a japamala, jaap mala, or “yoga beads”) is commonly used in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, its earliest example has been dated as far back as 8th century B.C.! They traditionally contain 108 beads, a number meant to symbolize “Om” and considered holy by these many theologies.
These beads are meant to help practitioners keep count during meditation but they’re able to be used for so much more!
From meditation to mantras, to anxiety relief and grounding, malas can be instrumental in times of intense stress or panic, or times of great sadness, or even in eras of self discovery.
I love answering questions about what they are and how to use them, or even how I’ve implemented them into my own life! Always feel free to hit me up if you have any questions!
