Halfway through Season 1. And it's been something. 💛
We've talked about wildfires and nervous systems. Dental chairs and self-advocacy. Grief that doesn't look like grief. Separation anxiety. Transitional objects. Potty training — and everything nobody told us it actually involves. And the magic that was inside us all along.

But none of it would exist without the people who showed up to make it real.
Madlaina. Dylan. Annatina.
Three kiddos who sat in front of a microphone and read stories about hard feelings — out loud, honestly, without a script. They are the heart of this podcast. Every single episode.

And the guests who trusted us with their expertise and their own stories — Paige Howard, who opened the season and set the tone. Kira Bender, who helped us understand what a child's nervous system actually goes through. Lacey Holmquist, who turned a scary dental visit into a lesson in self-advocacy. Jessica Correnti, who reminded us that grief is not just death — and that kids can't do it wrong. Dr. Anna Huang, who wrote a story about sadness that made a lot of grown-ups cry too. Sophie Pierce and Rebecca Callahan, who showed us the magic was inside all along. And Dr. Quiara, who gently flipped everything we thought we knew about potty training.

This is what a village looks like. 🌱

If your older child or teenager is still dealing with bedwetting, you are not alone — and you are not failing as a parent. This is more common than anyone talks about, especially in neurodivergent kids.

Pediatric pelvic floor OT Dr. Quiara Smith explains what's really going on: from unmanaged constipation to daytime bathroom avoidance, bullying in school bathrooms, and how it all adds up to nighttime incontinence.

In this short you'll learn:
✨ The #1 hidden cause of bedwetting in older kids (hint: it starts in the gut)
✨ Why kids hold p*e all day — and what it does to the bladder overnight
✨ The social and environmental reasons teens avoid school bathrooms
✨ What to actually look at if traditional approaches haven't worked

This conversation is for every mom who has quietly Googled "my 12-year-old still wets the bed" at midnight. We see you. 💛

Your child's magic doesn't live in a toy. It lives in them. 🩰✨

Rebecca breaks down something every parent needs to understand — transitional objects.

That beloved stuffed animal.
The worn-out blanket.
Sophie's ballet slippers.

They're not just things. They're how our kids feel safe in a world that can feel chaotic.

But the real goal?
Helping them realize the magic was never in the object — it was in them all along.

Sometimes, what looks small to us… isn’t small at all to them.

That “thing” they won’t let go of?
It holds comfort, memories, and a sense of safety.

When we rush them to move on, we risk missing the moment.
Because letting go isn’t just about the object — it’s about what it represents.

There’s a transition happening.
And what they need most isn’t logic… it’s presence.

This is where connection is built.

These are some of MFT trainee Rebecca Callahan's insights that really helped us to understand the magic behind transitional objects.

In today’s episode of Beyond the Stories , we dive into the deeper meaning behind children’s attachment to objects — from favorite slippers to beloved toys — and what it really says about their emotional development.

These aren’t “just things.”
They are security, memory, and meaning.

With Rebecca´s expert insights, we explore:

Why attachment objects matter so much to children
How letting go is actually a developmental milestone
What parents often get wrong when they say “it’s just a thing”
How to support your child through transitions with empathy (not invalidation)

This conversation is a powerful reminder:
Helping children move on doesn’t mean dismissing what they felt — it means honoring it first.

If you’ve ever struggled with your child not wanting to let go of something, this episode will change the way you see it.

I sent a “I’m cranky and I need you” text yesterday.
My dear friend then showed up with ceviche and a beautiful homemade lentil salad. No questions asked.
And for the first time I just allowed it - with no “you didn’t have to.” I received it, with the biggest smile on my face, and devoured the treat with her watching.
Asking for help IS reciprocity. it’s the part we skip.
I truly believe building a village means letting it hold you too. 🌱
