Here's what we have been up to at the Shop! Group buy orders for The Battle of Lexington Missouri 165th Anniversary, which offers some unique uniform opportunities that differ from standard impressions. Please note that the current wait time for custom garments is longer than usual due to these group buy items. We anticipate returning to our normal wait times in September. You are still welcome to place orders, and if you require something for the upcoming season, we recommend contacting us soon as our list of orders is continually growing

Three frocks finished up recently, ready to see some use at Manassas this weekend. If you notice, one coat has a variation in the color of the jean. Both cloths used are sumac jean wool, but one batch had oxidized more than the other. This is something you sometimes see in Confederate garments, whether it be cutting from a different bolt of material or sometimes even the same bolt having different variations in the loom. It'll be interesting to see if the sumac that has not oxidized as much fades to the same color or if it will stay somewhat different in color.

"Des Moine" jacket going out to a customer today! The jacket was taken from a confederate soldier at Atlanta by a federal 4th Iowa cavalryman. The jacket represents the simplest in manufacturing, having a four-piece body, one-piece collar and one-piece sleeves. The jacket is nearly devoid of topstitching, having only very widely-spaced basting stitches along the front lapels. The rear seam of the original jacket was not even pressed flat before the lining was added.

A nice checked shirt with white facings shipped yesterday! This one was finished with original glass buttons because it just had to have them.

Due to Lexington Group buys, all orders not being made for Lexington will have a longer wait until we are finished up, unless you've been told otherwise. Please keep this in mind when you are ordering!

John McNish Hazlehurst attended the Georgia Military Institute in Marietta, and served with the Corps of Cadets during the Atlanta Campaign of 1864. Undyed uniforms once again became a common sight in the Atlanta Campaign as homegaurd units joined the Army of Tennessee in their struggle to keep Sherman out of Atlanta. Multiple white uniforms still exist from this era and Hazelhurst's homespun uniform is one example.
