Cake is the answer, no matter the question…..especially when it’s a GIANT crochet cake!!! 🎂🧶
This was such a fun piece to create …the idea for this design started with the theme “Pink Waves.” Of course I knew that I had to use lots of pink yarn, but to tie in the “waves” part, I decided to crochet the bottom layer using the “layered shell stitch pattern” by . I thought that this was a great fit because it looks like waves!
Once the bottom layer was complete I slowly worked my way up and decided flowers would give it a sweet touch…I didn’t really have a plan in mind I just kept crocheting flowers and pinning them on the cake until I was happy with how it looked!
I’m not sure exactly how many hours it took to crochet this, but if I had to guess it’s around 40 hours….and a fun fact…I only used “I Love This Yarn” by and my 4mm clover crochet hook! This cake is huge! Swipe to see me holding it! Keep in mind I’m 5’10” ☺️
This is the main piece of an entire tablescape of crocheted cakes/desserts I made for an all female art show. The installation is a part of the Pink Waves art exhibit by and is displayed with works from 22 female artists at the rest of the month!
I love crocheting sooo much! 💖💖 I have been crocheting 6 years now, but only recently started designing my own patterns! I’m super proud of how this turned out and it’s super exciting to see the smiles it puts on other people’s faces! I hope you enjoy it to!
